What is Sustainability?
Sustainability is the practice of meeting our current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. It encompasses a holistic approach that considers Environmental, Social and Governance dimensions to create a balanced and enduring framework for working and living.
Understanding the ESG Pillars
ESG stands for Environment, Social and Governance, which are the 3 key pillars used to measure an organisation’s environmental and social impact. In support of the Singapore Green Plan 2030, this website will focus on the Environmental pillar, which includes topics on Carbon Emissions and Energy Management, Water Management, and Waste Management.

Why should businesses pursue sustainability?
For businesses, integrating sustainability means minimising negative impacts and maximising positive impacts that they have on the environment, society, and the economy. In turn, pursuing sustainability can help to improve business performance, increase access to funding and capture new growth opportunities.

Access to funding
Investors and lenders increasingly favour businesses with ESG commitments, providing them with more financing options including sustainability loans, which are loans for projects that make a substantial contribution to an environmental objective or tied to predetermined sustainability performance objectives of the borrower.
Capture new growth opportunities
Businesses with sustainable products and services, such as clean energy and resource management solutions, can capture demand from the drive towards sustainability.
